This week, I attended a play about being gay at the Pregones Theatre in the Bronx. While there, I met the director, writer and actors. One of the actors proved to be really interested in my project. He had acted in a short film that will be airing on HBO/HBO Latino about a gay Latino boy in high school. He put me into contact with the writer of the short film and who was also interested in talking about my documentary.
I also met the director of programs at the Bronx Community Pride Center who expressed interest in helping me get contacts for the doc, which will be nice.
I am also in contact with the director of BAAD (Bronx Academy of Art and Dance) who is also a recent author on the topic of being gay and Latino. We are in the works of setting a time to meet. I plan on interviewing him about his experiences, probably off camera but with a tape recorder.
